A northbound Amtrak train collided with an oversized truck carrying an electrical building at the Intersection of US Highway 301 and NC Highway 903 in Halifax Monday.
At least 60 people were injured but authorities said none of the injuries were life threatening.
Amtrak's Carolinian, which originated in charlotte, derailed after hitting the tractor-trailer and the oversize load it was carrying.

The truck, which was carrying a mobile-home-size building wrapped in heavy blue plastic, was escorted by the NC State Highway Patrol when the accident occurred.
"The train ran right through it," said one train passenger said.
There are crossing arms and overhead lights at the crossing. They activated, Gordon said, but the arms came down on the truck, which was not able to get out of the way in time.
Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Jeff Gordon said 62 people, including the train's engineer, were brought to the Halifax Regional Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the truck was not injured.
In a statement, Amtrak said the derailed train was carrying 212 passengers and eight crewmembers at the time of the accident.
Amtrak said its northbound service on the Carolinian route will be disrupted on Tuesday. Passengers scheduled to ride Train 80 between Raleigh and Richmond, Va. will be accommodated on chartered buses between those points, Amtrak announced.
Other Amtrak service going through Rocky Mount will operate subject to some delay because of Monday's accident, Amtrak said.
The Federal Railroad Administration has sent a team of investigators to the accident scene. Investigators were unable to retrieve the train's event recorder on Monday because the locomotive was still in an unsafe position.
