June 23^rd, the Second Famous Lychee Taste Festival was held in Houjie Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province. Fruit farmers brought the best lychee grown in their farm. The most surprising part is the "Ice Lychee", a precious species of lychee, was sold at auction for 913 dollars per kilogram this year, which is the highest price in history.

There are more than 8000 acres of lychee trees in Dajing Community of Houjia Town. Some years ago, the fruit farmers here planted lychee without good advertising campaign. It caused there were no target markets for their lychee. In 2010, "Guiwei" lychee grown by fruit farmer Huang Zhiqiang won the first price in the First Famous Lychee Taste Festival. From then on, Dajing Community began to build brand for Dajing lychee. In 2011, Lychee professional cooperatives were founded. These professional cooperatives have invested in new technology and injected a large sum of money for these farmers. Now, the price of "Nuomici" lychee has risen to 20 Yuan per kilogram.    

The stable harvest of lychee was hard won this year. That is because the lychee trees went through a hailstorm in March. In order to protect the precious lychee trees, the director of Dajing Community invited many experts to find ways to protect the lychee. However some fruit farmers still affected by the heavy hailstorm. This year, the lychee's production declined slightly.

"Ice Lychee" went to auction this year. "Ice Lychee" is a precious species, which costs Huang Zhiqiang 10 years to nurture it. The total output of this year is only 25 kilos. "Ice Lychee" is heart-shaped, crystal-clear and sweet. Huang Zhiqiang took out 5 kilos "Ice Lychee" for charity auction yesterday; finally, the "Ice Lychee" was sold for 913 dollars per kilogram. All the money will be donated to Dajing Community Scholarship Foundation.
