Half Life fans were disappointed that no "Half Life 3" announcement had been made at the GDC 2015. Instead, Valve held a presentation about "physics optimization strategies for game programmers" with Valve engineer Sergiy Migdalskiy.

Speculation about the Half Life 3 installment had circulated the net after a BBC article last week. According to the story, HTC Chairwoman Cher Wang said she wanted and hoped for a Half Life video game to be added to their Virtual Reality Headset.

Due to this statement, Half Life fans anticipated Valve Corporation's announcement regarding their most awaited Half Life 3 installment at the Game Developer Conference. Wang released an apology statement to clear the misunderstanding,

"Regarding my BBC interview with Dave Lee yesterday, I would like to apologize for any confusion caused when I referred to individual games titles," she said on BBC the following day.

Valve and HTC are in the works developing a virtual reality experience that will change gaming world to a remarkable new level.

According to IGN, Valve is experimenting with Half Life characters in their virtual reality technology. When Jeep Barnett, Valve programmer, was asked about the possibility of a VR Half Life, he said "We're not saying, 'no' but we don't know what the right thing is [yet]," to Kotaku at the GDC.

Half Life is a sci-fi video game developed by Valve. It was first launched by Sierra Studios for Windows PC in 1998 and was soon ported to PlayStation 2.

Following the success of the original game, Valve released sequels: Half Life 2, Half Life: Episode One and Half Life: Episode Two.

The video game series sold over 20 million copies for its first game and another 12 million for the second installment. Half Life 3 is one the most anticipated games since 2007.
