Soul singer and songwriter Angie Stone was recently arrested and charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly attacked her daughter Diamond with a metal stand which broke her front teeth.
According to Atlanta's WXIA, the incident happened on Monday evening. The DeKalb County Police arrived at their Lithonia, Georgia home where Angie's 30-year old daughter explained to officers that she was simply in her room, when her mom went in and told her to clean up and "get her children since they were running around the house half naked," which prompted an argument that later turned violent.

The WXIA news report revealed that the Grammy-nominated singer told authorities that she used a metal stand to hit her daughter in the face, but clarified that she was only acting in self-defense because her daughter was punching her. However, an official police report obtained by the Atlantic Journal Constitution contradicts the WXIA report, as it states that Angie wasn't aware that she hit Diamond with a metal stand.
The police report said that once Angie realized what she was doing, she immediately let go of the metal stand and attempted to distance herself from Diamond. Angie continued and said that even as she was trying to get away from Diamond, her daughter was still chasing after her when their family friend Blondy Chisolm intervened and broke the fight up.
After the mother and daughter were interrogated at the police station, Diamond was released with no charges and Angie was given the aggravated assault charge.
Angie was released on Tuesday after bailing US$10,000.
