At approximately 6:30 am, Bullock was awakened by noises coming from her third-floor workout room. The noise then shifted to the living area which prompted her to take immediate action. She opened her bedroom and saw a stranger moving towards the stairs. She then locked her door and called the police.
The obsessed stalker, 39-year-old Joshua James Corbett, was later arrested by authorities shouting "Sandy! I'm sorry!"
Investigators say that Corbett scaled the gates of the actresses' home and had forced open a sunroom door. When he was captured by the police, Corbett said that he was trying to alert Bullock and tell her that her security is not impervious to intruders.
Corbett also said that he didn't want to upset Bullock and that he thought that she might not be home.
Bullock, 49, came home at approximately 1:30 am after coming from Spike TV Guys' Choice awards where she received an award for being the Decade of Hotness. Her four-year-old son, Louis, was not home at the time and was away with the nanny.
The newly released affidavits indicate that Corbett has written a letter the day before the actual break-in and says that he insists that he is Bullock's husband and the father of her son.
"I love you... You are my girl! ... You are my wife by law," professed Corbett in the letter which he signed with his full name.
Authorities also discovered multiple firearms in his residence including a couple of fully automatic rifles and even a machine gun. He also stashed illegal weapons in an airport hangar which for no reason was given.
Corbett still remains in jail awaiting trial. He could face more than seven years in prison if found guilty.
