The University of Oklahoma has closed the fraternity linked to a racist video of students singing racial epithets and ordered its members to move out of the house, University President David Boren said on Monday.

The President of the University of Oklahoma has expelled two students who were caught on video singing a racist chant in a fraternity event.

They were also heard saying that black students will never be admitted to the fraternity's chapter in the Oklahoma University.

The clip was recorded Saturday night and was uploaded online.

Oklahoma University President David Boren swiftly moved.

Aside from expelling the students, Boren immediately ordered the closure of the SAE house in the campus.

In a statement, he said the frat men had created a "hostile learning environment for others."

He also said, "I have emphasized that there is zero tolerance for this kind of threatening racist behavior at the University of Oklahoma."

He further added, "I hope that the entire nation will join us in having zero tolerance of such racism when it raises its ugly head in other situations across the country."

Boren gave fraternity members two days to transfer to another house.

An investigation into the case is ongoing.

The University, which is located in the Southern Oklahoma City suburb of Norman, has about 27,000 students.

Five percent of them are Black.

The national body of Sigma Alpha Epsilon has apologized for the incident.

It promises the expel from its membership all the students who were involved.

One of the two students caught in the racist video is asking for forgiveness, saying that he had made a "horrible mistake."

In a statement, Parker Rice said, " I am deeply sorry for what I did Saturday night. It was wrong and reckless. I made a horrible mistake by joining in the singing and encouraging others to do the same."

Rice said he was "likely fueled by alcohol," but admitted that "that's not an excuse."

Meanwhile, the parents of the other student in the video also issued a statement, saying their son made a huge mistake.

Levi Pettit's parents said, "we will live with the consequences forever."

The Pettits are apologizing to the entire African-American community, and to both the administration and the student body of the University of Oklahoma.
