"Ori and the Blind Forest" is an Xbox One 2D game .

No words are spoken but Ori and his mother's expressive movements clearly convey their love for each other.  2D games follow the same structured gameplay in which you only advance forward if your character has learned the required skill.

The harmony of their existence is shattered when three elements are stolen and Ori is given the task of retrieving them.

Ori isn't only quick on his feet but can also gracefully jump and dart around.

With every new skill your character learns, more difficult challenges lie ahead. The skills are quite fun to use but can take a while to master. Ori can learn to hurl energy balls at his enemies instead of avoiding them.

One effective skill your character needs to master is deflecting projectiles back to your enemies by propelling Ori in the opposite direction. Stay alert when using this technique or you can find yourself hurling toward a hovering crow or face death by spikes.

To survive the Blind Forest, Ori must always move forward by avoiding or removing obstacles from his path. You first start the game by using glowing lanterns hanging overhead. Later on, Ori can propel himself to his destination like a bullet.

The Blind Forest is full of danger that will not hesitate to attack or trap Ori.  Timing and some quick calculations are required if you want to prevent your character from dying.

Needless to say, some scenes will require numerous attempts if you want Ori to explore every nook and cranny of a certain area instead of just moving on.
