After Apple unveiled its new MacBook, Google also released its own Chromebook Pixel. Both of these notebooks offer some similar features and services but each notebook does have some differences that can either entice or turn off potential buyers.

The MacBook weighs two pounds, which is lighter than the Chromebook Pixel, which weighs 3.3 pounds.  Apple's MacBook is quite thinner, measuring at least half an inch thick.  Color choices are also limited for Chromebook, which only comes in metal gray while MacBook comes in gold, space gray and silver.

The Pixel sports the 12.85 inch display with 2,560 x 1,700 p resolution. The display's aspect ratio is 3:2 and it is a touchscreen.

The MacBook's screen display is slightly smaller at 12 inches where it has a 2304 x 1440 Retina display resolution.  Unfortunately, Apple didn't see the need to make a touch screen display.

The base Pixel model is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor although the more upscale model has a more powerful Core i7. The MacBook uses the Intel Core M processor that has a lower computing power than the Core i5. Each of the two notebooks uses the processors in their own way, however.

The Apple MacBook has a headset jack and a single USB-C connector that will be used for charging, video and data transfer. You'll need adapter dongles if you want to use a standard USB or HDMI.

The Chromebook Pixel, on the other hand, has two USB-C ports, two USB 3.0 ports and a SD card reader.

Now with regards to the price, the Pixel is much cheaper at $999 compared to a 12 inch MacBook, which will cost you at least $1,299.  Nevertheless, price is not the only factor.  Potential buyers will have to rate each system depending on their preferences and computing need.
