The creators of a comedy Web Series which features a teddy bear that is very much like the character of Ted in the 2012 blockbuster movie are suing Seth MacFarlane, the studio, the production company and everyone who are involved in the movie "Ted".
The creators of the comedy Web Series "Charlie the Abusive Teddy Bear" say that the character of a vulgar, hard- drinking teddy bear in the said series was used in the production of the movie "Ted" as an "unlawful copy" of the character they have created.

The Web Series which started back in 2009 has a character who has a "penchant for drinking, smoking, prostitutes, and is generally vulgar yet humorous". This was pointed out in a suit which was filed on Tuesday by Bengal Mangle Productions in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.
The character of "Ted" exhibits all characteristics mentioned in the suit. Ted was featured as a teddy bear who drinks, abuses drugs, and womanizes. Even if the plot was far different from the web series, Bengal Mangle Productions stood firm on their claim that MacFarlane stole the character they had created.
"Charlie and Ted have displayed consistent, widely identifiable traits that make this vulgar teddy bear especially distinctive. Charlie and Ted each have a substantially similar persona, verbal tone, verbal delivery, dialogue and attitude," said the suit.
Universal Pictures officials have yet to comment on the copyright infringement case filed against them.
In the movie and in the web series, it has been seen that both Ted and Charlie reside in a substantially similar environment. Both characters spend a good amount of time sitting on the couch with a beer and a cigarette on both hands.
The movie "Ted" earned gross sales of US$549 million worldwide and a sequel is set to be released in 2015. Production insiders say Mila Kunis may no longer play the female lead and Amanda Seyfried is said to be taking her place.
