Ryan Gosling and Director Guillermo Del Toro were recently at South by Southwest or SXSW to promote and discuss Ryan's directorial debut, Lost River. While speaking on the panel, the 50-year old award-winning director poked fun at Ryan's cheesy and silly Disneyland photo shoots, as well as the Ryan Gosling "Hey Girl" memes that are everywhere.

Commenting on the memes, Ryan appeared confused about how he became associated with the famous "Hey Girl" phrase.

He explained that he understands if he was in a movie and said a line like, "I'll be back," "you gotta own that," he told the audience, "but I never said it," he added, much to the disappointment of all women who easily swoon upon seeing a "Hey Girl" meme.

He then shared to the crowd how the meme follows him wherever he goes.

"I go on the street and some guy goes, 'Hey girl,'" he said. To which Guillermo quickly pointed out how Ryan has now, in fact, said "Hey Girl."

Ryan simply laughed at himself, dropped the mic, covered his face with his hand and jokingly said that he's "done."

The 34-year old actor also discussed being behind the scenes for the movie, which he wrote and directed.

As a director, he said "you try and make things that everyone's going to like." He expressed the difficulty of having to make "thousands of decisions everyday," and added, "the only place you can come from is what you gravitate towards and what works for you."

Ryan and partner Eva Mendes, who happens to be one of the lead stars in his film "Lost River," just recently welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Esmeralda.

The fantasy-thriller film, which also stars Christina Hendricks, Matt Smith, Saoirse Ronan and Iain De Caestecker, is scheduled to hit theaters on April 10, with limited distribution.
