Cate Blanchett may be a villainous stepmother onscreen but in real life, she is the exact opposite.
The actress and her husband Andrew Upton, the current artistic director at the Sydney Theatre Company, have adopted a baby girl from the United States. The actress shares details about her new daughter in Sydney last Sunday night, according to Daily Mail.

The 'Elizabeth' star was questioned about Australia's adoption laws when she made her revelation about the adoption.
The adopted child's name is Edith Vivian Patricia, the new younger sister to her brothers: 13 year old Dashiell John, 10 year old Roman Robert and 6 year old Ignatius Martin, according to People Magazine.
She was already seen by the media being held by her mom Cate while fetching her sons from school, according to the Australian Magazine Women's Weekly.
"It's very exciting," said Blanchett's husband Andrew Upton, when asked about how he felt about welcoming a lovely girl into the Blanchett-Upton brood.
"There's a lot of children out there that don't have the good fortune of our biological children so it's lovely to welcome a little girl. We're besotted," said the 45 year old actress.
"Fourth time around its extraordinary," she further added.
Blanchett was walking down the blue carpet in Sydney to promote her recent film, Cinderella, which she plays the wicked stepmother.
The movie, directed by Kenneth Branagh, already made US$132.5 million worldwide on its debut and it also includes a US$70.1 million earning from local theaters.
"It's always great to play someone evil. We're taught, particularly little girls, to be kind, good and sweet. So it's great to play someone who's the polar opposite to all those adjectives," said Blanchett, according to E! Online.
"I think it's modern in a very subtle way, in a sense that when I grew up,I don't know about you, found Cinderella somewhat of a doormat. I didn't know why she put up with the cruelty. When Lily James managed to infuse the character with is the sense of quiet dignity and optimism and openheartedness and resilience. Ken kept talking about kindness as a superpower. So with all those superhero films out there, maybe this is a gentle superhero film," she further added, sharing the fact that she jumped at the chance to star in the film that honors the classical character and upgrade that character's motivations.
