Chinese actress Zhou Xun and American-Chinese actor Archie Kao emerged before the public as man and wife in a rather surprise announcement of their union at the finalé of Zhou's concert in Hangzhou Wednesday night.
The two had kept mum about any wedding preparations except for a slip by Zhou's friend last month which revealed the first clues about an impending wedding.

Appearing onstage in her white beaded gown while holding hands with Archie, Zhou announced to an overwhelmed audience that they're indeed married, and that the scene they're witnessing is for real, unlike previous reel scenes where she had portrayed the role of bride.
"A while ago, Mr Kao proposed to me and I agreed," said Zhou, eyes gleaming with joy.
The actress-singer had just finished a one-night concert for the benefit of children with special needs.
Archie Kao, best known for his role as Archie Johnson in the American TV series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", struggled to express in Mandarin how love has brought him together with his wife, just as love had brought everyone to the concert.
Actor Chen Kun, who is very close to Zhou Xun, had slipped clues on the couple's wedding preparations at a press conference last month but was later denied by both camps.
Rumors were also rife that their marriage would be registered in Beijing, and an overseas wedding banquet was in the offing.
As it turned out, the denial was meant to preserve the suspense of the wedding announcement which they wanted to do at the end of Zhou's concert.
It is not clear at what point before, during or after the concert Zhou and Archie actually tied the knot.
Zhou's company said the actress-singer, who won as Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards for her role in the 2005 Peter Chan flick, "Perhaps Love", has no intention of retiring from the entertainment industry after her marriage.
