Recent reports show photos of several prototypes of Chinese stealth fighter planes on Wednesday after Japan televised a footage of its own stealth jet fighter.
Chinese media have reported on Wednesday that their government has been reportedly manufacturing several prototypes of the Chengdu J-20 stealth fighter with a 2012 serial number. Photos show that the recent prototypes have an almost exact similar exterior to the previous prototype with serial number 2011.

According to China's Global Times, this suggests that the aircraft's design is continuously being developed by producing a batch of prototypes.
A few days ago, Japan has introduced in national television an advanced stealth fighter jet prototype of its own-the Mitsubishi ATD-X Shinshin, which was purportedly used to test the latest stealth technology.
According to Japan's TBS television network, the Mitsubishi ATD-X Shinshin was not part of the country's advancement in the stealth technology and has presented the US Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II instead.
However, Japanese officials have clarified that it has not discarded its plan to develop a fifth-generation stealth aircraft. The prototype was built for test purposes only for the country to be prepared for mass production of fourth- and fifth-generation fighter with the stealth technology in case of impending conflict.
Meanwhile, the US Air Force has 11 prototypes of its J-22 Raptor stealth tactical fighter and has carried out over 4,500 hours of test flights during its production. Reports indicate that China is likely to do the same with its J-20 and would finish productions by 2015.
