It's Official -- ‘Homefront: The Revolution’ to be Released in 2106

Game publisher Deep Silver has finally announced that "Homefront: The Revolution" will be released in 2016 instead of this year.

Deep Silver CEO Dr. Klemens Kundratitz said they're giving Dambuster Studios the opportunity and time to turn the game into a best seller. This is why they decided to postpone the release of Homefront: The Revolution until next year.

"Expect to hear more about the game later this year," said Dr. Kundratitz.

THQ was supposed to release the second installment of Homefront in 2014.  Unfortunately THQ went bankrupt and Crytek took over the development of the game. The upcoming game was then scheduled for release this year.

Crytek renamed the game Homefront: The Revolution but got into serious financial troubles.   Deep Silver then bought all of Crytek's IPs, including Homefront. Deep Silver then assigned Homefront development to Dambuster Studios.

Dambuster Studios is actually the new name of Crytek UK, the original developer of Homefront: The Revolution.

Homefront: The Revolution is a continuation of the original game. The game story starts in Philadelphia, which has been under North Korean occupation for four years.

The Korean People's Army is armed with superior weapons and technology. American resistance fighters must resort to guerilla tactics to survive and win.

Players fight the occupiers using ambush, deception, infiltration and sabotage. Your resistance will, in turn, inspire the civilians to join your cause and start a revolution against the North Koreans.

Homefront is a first person shooter. The original game was a single person campaign mode. This time, the second installment will have a multiplayer mode and will be set in an open world environment.

Homefront: The Revolution is set to be released on the Windows PC, Xbox One and PS 4.
