"World of Warships" recently went closed beta.  To play the game, you must go to their site and register.  Simply submitting your application doesn't guarantee you a spot.

The trailer on the World of Warships site makes an impressive introduction of what players can expect from the game, such as ship-to-ship combat and fighting off enemy planes.

Game developer Wargaming.net introduced four classes of warships for the game: battleships, cruisers, destroyers and aircraft carriers.

Based on a poll conducted by the developer, the Battleship is the heavy favorite among gamers and garnered around 47 percent of the vote. The second favorite is the Aircraft Carrier which got almost 21 percent followed by the Destroyer and Cruiser, which received 18 percent and 13 percent, respectively.

World of Warships is a real time strategy game (RTS) where each player commands a naval fleet to battle each other.

The first step to victory is to know the capabilities and limitation of the various ships you command.

For example, the Destroyer is a fast and maneuverable ship that can deliver a lethal blow against bigger and better armed battleships.

Nothing beats the Cruiser in maneuverability. They can fight off destroyers or enemy planes to protect the fleet. They also have enough firepower to battle much larger ships and will have no problem facing another cruiser.

The Battleship is big and clumsy but makes up for it in terms of its massive firepower. It is also heavily armed with anti-aircraft guns.

The Aircraft Carrier is a multi-role ship that carries four types of plane providing reconnaissance, escort and protecting friendly forces, as well as attacking enemy ships and planes.
