American Christian evangelists claim the partial solar eclipse on March 20 will be the beginning of the End of the World.

That's right. An eclipse will set in train a chain of events that will ultimately destroy humankind and prepare the way for the second coming of Jesus Christ.

According to these Christian zealots, this eclipse that will begin 8:00 a.m. and end 11:00 a.m. Friday morning will be one in a series of celestial phenomenon which, taken together, announce the destruction of humankind.

Among the other two omens are the forthcoming Supermoon and the Spring equinox. Something big will occur this year to trigger the Apocalypse. What that something is, these fanatics don't know but they're certain it's coming this year.

WorldNetDaily, which describes itself as "an American web site that publishes news and associated content from the perspective of U.S. conservatives and the political right," said biblical experts believe the message -- or the March 20 eclipse -- "is a sign of judgment from God to those on Earth".

Most of the predictions regarding the March 20 eclipse as the event that will trigger the end times comes from a Christian website named Root Source. The co-founder of Root Source, Bob O'Dell, told WND the message was a sign of judgment.

Pastor O'Dell said the eclipse will be total across the North Pole and so its message is directed at everyone.

"The North Pole can't really be called the territory of any particular nation or people," O'Dell said. "This is likely a message from God to the entire world."

Since the eclipse will mostly be seen in northern Europe, Europeans must heed the message more, said O'Dell, as reported by WND.

"In Jewish tradition, a total solar eclipse is a warning to the Gentiles and a sign of judgment on the nations," he said.

"When we look at where the darkness will be, it will be in northern European countries like England and Sweden where we see the rise of Islam and anti-Israel sentiment. Europeans especially should take heed."

The link between the March 20 eclipse and the end of the world has been central to the "Blood Moon Prophecy". This theory claims that a "tetrad" --  four consecutive lunar eclipses, with six full moons between them -- is a sign the world will soon end.

A Blood Moon is so named because the moon turns copper red in color as it passes under the Earth's shadow. This phenomenon is caused by light rays reflecting off the Moon.

Believers in the Blood Moon cite the Book of Joel that says "the sun will turn into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes".

They say the March 20 eclipse is in the middle of the tetrad, and is seen as another celestial omen portending humankind's ultimate destruction.

The Blood Moon Prophecy is a theory studied and taught by some Christian ministers such as John Hagee and Mark Biltz. It states that an ongoing tetrad (a series of four consecutive total lunar eclipses occurring on Jewish Holidays, with six full moons in between, and no intervening partial lunar eclipses) is a sign of the end times as described in the Bible in Acts 2:20 and Revelation 6:12.

This prophecy is said to have begun with the April 2014 lunar eclipse.

The final blood moon, a "Super Blood Moon," will appear during the Festival of Tabernacles, which is also known as a period of judgment for all the nations. Biltz believes this is a sign that momentous events are in motion.

The Feast of Tabernacles, or Sukkot in Hebrew, is a biblical Jewish holiday celebrated on the 15th day of the month of Tishrei. It falls on September 28 to October 5 this year (2015).

"The last time there were four blood moons in a row, it was 1967 and Israel captured Jerusalem," Biltz said. "The time before that occurred just after the re-establishment of Israel. Christians need to be aware of these facts in order to understand what is happening in the world today."
