Authorities got their hands on documents that would help in prosecuting businessman Robert Durst for the death of several people, including his former wife Kathleen Durst.
The documents, consisting of 60 boxes of phone records, bills, family-trust documents, photographs, video depositions and transcripts, were surrendered to investigators by his friend Susan Giordano in Campbell Hall, New York, reports the New York Times.

The state police investigator who got the boxes of evidence from Giordano's house was Joseph Becerra, who has been after Durst from his first case involving the disappearance of his first wife Debrah Lee Charatan.
He traced Giordano after searching on Tuesday in three apartments owned by Durst, which yielded communications with Giordano, seven credit cards, court documents and two books about the case of his missing wife.
What also helped authorities arrest Durst was an HBO documentary titled "The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst, which the businessman helped produce by providing materials and interviews against the advice of his lawyers. A lot of the things he said in the documentary were corroborated by the things inside the 60 boxes.
When authorities reopened in 2000 the case of the disappearance of Kathleen, he fled New York and stayed incognito in Texas and New Orleans. Toward the end of that year, police found dead with a bullet on the back of her head Durst's confidante, Susan Berman. He was the prime suspect, but was arrested instead in 2001 for the death of neighbor Morris Black.
He posted and jumped bail and was recaptured after 45 days in Pennsylvania. However, a jury found him not guilty for Black's death.
Last week, Durst was arrested in Marriot New Orleans where he checked in under the name of Everette Ward. His bond hearing in New Orleans is scheduled on Monday.
His lawyers claim that Durst's arrest was illegal, reports People Magazine.
