There are rumors about an iPad Mini 4 due for release this year.

Reports are coming out that Apple may announce the launch of the iPad Mini 4 next month with the device being released in September or October. Previously, the earlier three iPad Minis were released in either late October or November.

The first iPad Mini was hailed as a great tablet design but was criticized for its poor screen resolution and obsolete internal specs. The second iPad mini was a vast improvement. 

But the iPad Mini 3 had very little differences compared to the previous version. Apple just added a gold colored model and a Touch ID sensor. Many believe the iPad Mini 4 will have more and better features.

Unfortunately, there isn't much official or unofficial news about the upcoming iPad Mini 4. There is speculatios, however, the next iPad Mini will be thinner. The design will possibly be similar to the iPad Air 2 that uses a laminated screen.

 iPad fans hope Apple will add an anti-reflective coating to the iPad Mini 4. With regards to looks, the iPad Mini 4 will probably have the basic design of previous models.

Industry sources are almost certain the Mini 4 will have an improved processor, which they believe is the A8X since the iPad Air 2 has it, too.  If they add 2 GB of RAM, the Mini 4 will become an energy efficient machine.

The newly released big iPads no longer have the mute or rotation lock and it's possible the iPad Mini 4 won't have this feature, as well.

Prices for the iPad Mini models are usually predictable but with tablet sales slowing down, an upcoming iPad Mini 4 will probably be sold at  much lower price than its predecessors.
