Leaked images of an upcoming Sony Xperia Z4 have begun to surface. Tweets from @OnLeaks showed pictures of the rumored Sony smartphone.

The basic design does not differ much from the Xperia Z3. The buttons, color and interface have remained the same. 

Based on the images, however, the proximity sensor and camera have changed places. The microSD port has disappeared from its previous location, which is above the smartphone's power button.

The speaker on the rumored Z4 is wider than the previous model and has been relocated to the top edge.  There are rumors a speaker with Sony BoomSound quality may be installed on the next Xperia Z4.  

Sony initially wanted to release its flagship smartphones like the Xperia bi-annually. It seems the fourth version of Xperia is the only flagship product Sony will launch in 2016.

Recent email leaks from Sony Pictures exposed the launch date of the Xperia line to be May or November this year. A news outlet is deducing the Xperia Z4 will probably be released in May while the Z4 Compact in November. Sony may announce the Xperia Z4 launch any time soon or maybe after IFA 2015.

The dimensions of the Z4 measures 146.3 mm x 71.9 mm x 7.2 mm compared to the Z3's 146 mm x 72 mm x 7.3 mm.  It seems Sony would rather stick to the old design than compete with Samsung's Galaxy S6.

Currently, the Xperia Z3 is selling for around US$600. For that price you get a smartphone that is encased in glass and aluminum; runs a snapdragon 801 quad core processor with 3 GB of RAM; has a 5.2 inch HD display and a 20 MP camera. 

Sony's Xperia Z4 will most likely be as powerful if not more, which means customers will pay a lot more for it.
