60-year old actress Alberta Watson has just passed away.
Alberta was best known for her role in the longest running U.S. espionage-themed television drama "24" as special agent Erin Driscoll and in the action-thriller series "Nikita" as Senator Madeline Pierce. She endured a long-time battle with cancer but sadly lost to it when she died last Saturday at a hospice in Toronto.

The actress's representative released a statement to announce the death of Alberta. Her rep, Pam Winter wrote that she "died in the arms of her beloved [husband] Ken."
According to a tribute released by the entertainment design firm Garry Goddard in Canada, Alberta's home country, she was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer just a little bit after she started settling into her role as Madeline Pierce in Nikita's second season.
Alberta also appeared on the big screen from 1978 to 2009 and portrayed notable roles in movies such as "In Praise of Older Women" and "Spanking the Monkey." She also starred in the musical-comedy drama "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" with Jeff Daniels, Isla Fisher and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
According to the "The Border" star's agent, the details of Alberta's memorial service has not been announced, as they have yet to be finalized.
