3D printing technology is the current buzzword among IT and manufacturing. During the 2013 Taiwan Display Device Show, 3D printer becomes one of the most popular highlights. Recently, it is reported that Japanese electronics magnate Matsushita will use 3D printing technology to produce household electrical appliance.

3D printing technology is even called the third industrial revolution by some media.
However, according to Taiwan "United Evening News", Terry Gou has an opposite view on it. Terry Gou is Taiwanese tycoon who is the founder and chairman of Foxconn. The company manufactures electronics on contract for other companies, such as Apple Inc. It is the largest electronics manufacturing services company in the world, with factories in several countries, where it employs 1.2 million people to do the work. Terry Gou said: "If 3D printer is really useful, I will write my surname of Guo upside down."
Why is the electronics tycoon so pessimistic about 3D printing technology? Terry Guo said 3D printers couldn't produce goods in large numbers. The goods wouldn't be commercial on large scales.
According to Terry Guo, 3D printing technology is by no means the third industrial revolution. It is just a publicity stunt. 3D printing technology has developed for a long time. Some companies have started using 3D printing technology since 30 years ago. However, the technology can't be used in mass-producing. That means it does not have a commercial value. Terry Guo took a telephone, which was produced by 3D printers as an example. He said they could produce the telephone with 3D printers, but the telephone was useless. It was just a model, not a device. Therefore, 3D printing products can't be installed with other electronic components; these products can't run smoothly in mass production. In addition, 3D printers can't use leather materials in the "ink" box. The products are not durable.
