Early this year, IGN delivered a report from Omelete saying Naughty Dog is allegedly working on "The Last of Us 2," in the face of the fact the first game remains ongoing with the announcement of "Uncharted" for PS4.
Releasing this year, The Last of Us 2 is already in production for PlayStation 4.

IGN contacted The Last of Us publisher Sony for a comment. Sony then responded by giving thanks for reaching out. They said, however, they don't comment on rumors or speculations.
Reports claimed that in February 2014, The Last Of Us creative director Neil Druckmann said the possibility of a sequel was about 50/50. Nonetheless, the team needed to find a story "really worth telling, and that's not having to be a rerun."
In July 2014, community strategist Arne Meyer also said that not considering a sequel "would be a disservice" to the studio and the fans.
Citing the note of director Druckmann, GameRant reported that despite solid sales numbers and critical acclaim, The Last of Us 2 or a spin-off isn't guaranteed due to the studio's priority for quality storytelling over easy profits. Based on the report, his team had been brainstorming about a possible sequel for the multi award-winning Sony game.
"The Team also put heads together for sequel ideas , but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on Uncharted 4," explained Druckman.
All in all, whether there's actually a 50/50 chance avid fans see a Last of Us sequel or not, there's one thing they can be 100 percent sure of right now -- whatever Naughty Dog is planning, Druckmann isn't yet ready to offer concrete details.
