Force Majeure, which rights just got recently picked up by Fox Searchlight, tells the story of a family that stayed in a resort situated in the French Alps.

An avalanche threatened the whole resort, and their father selfishly and cowardly fled on his own and deserted his family.
When the avalanche was finally over, though the family was reunited, the father's actions had created a rift among them, which they may never mend again.
The film, directed and written by 40-year old Ruben Östlund, took home most of the Guldbagge Awards, the Swedish's equivalent of the Oscars, and also won the coveted Un Certain Regard award at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. This year, it got nominated for the best foreign film at the Golden Globes.
And while the remake has been confirmed, news about who will direct or pen the script has yet to be announced. Some insiders say that Julia is not only considering starring in the film but to produce it as well.
The film will be a slight departure for Julia, who is more known for her work in comedy films and TV series. Her HBO comedy show Veep will return for its fourth season in April.
