Rammasun made its first landfall in Wenchang City in the island province of Hainan on Friday afternoon, were a man was killed by falling debris from his house.

Xinhua reports, quoting disaster authorities, that more than 217,000 residents had been evacuated in Hainan, and about 30,000 in Guangdong. Here the provincial authorities have launched their highest level of emergency response. Construction projects, schools and businesses have been suspended in the cities of Maoming and neighbouring Zhanjiang.

Latest reports from the NMC also forecast moderate to heavy rain in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and in the northeast China and north China from Sunday to Monday.

In Beijing smog is expected together with the neighboring port city Tianjin and parts of Hebei Province from Saturday to Sunday.
