Though Chan's life in general had been described as an exciting adventure, the most controversial part of it remains to be his affair with Ng 15 years ago. The 60-year old actor told media that the book gives an inside look into this phase of his life and how guilty he felt toward his wife.
An excerpt in the book explains how Chan wanted to contact his wife and explain matters at the height of the controversy. He wrote, "My mistake wasn't something I could simply apologize for because there was no way to compensate for what I had done."
In his autobiography, which was co-written by Chinese actress Zhu Mo and was a work that took three years in the making, Chan mentioned that he had considered divorcing Lin. The actor explained that he made such a big mistake that he thought the only way out was a divorce.
Upon the announcement of the book, Chan posted a message on his Weibo account, explaining the content. The actor said it would feature his 'emotions over the past few years'.
He wrote, "I was often misunderstood and there are some things that happened in the past that I would rather explain myself. I'm done with letting someone else say things about me."
He also made a dedication to Zhu, expressing his gratitude for all that she has contributed to the book.
