Eight Men Killed by US Drone in NW, Pakistan

Eight militants killed by a U.S. drone that fired two missiles at a compound in North Waziristan, Pakistan.
The Pakistani military has been carrying out an offensive against militants that started last month.
North Waziristan, located across the border of Afghanistan, is a haven for both foreign and local militants who are suspected of attacking American and NATO troops.

The identities of those people who were killed remain unidentified, but according to locals, a U.S. drone fired missiles to an area that serves as a hideout of Punjabi Taliban members.
Because Pakistani officials are not authorized to talk to media, they spoke on anonymity of the identities.
According to anonymous Pakistani officials who are familiar with the matter, the U.S. drone strikes aggravated the already tense relations between Islamabad and Washington. The anonymous sources said the strike was a clear violation of their country's sovereignty.
The death toll is feared to be on the rise and the locals had kicked off rescue operation to pull dead bodies out and those who were injured.
The attack, which happened this morning, was already the sixth of its kind this year. According to official reports, there are already 58 people who had been killed while the number of those injured in the drone attacks are rising.
The offensive strike forced over 800,000 people to migrate to nearby cities and towns to seek refuge and safety.
There were already 500 militants who were killed by military operation which started last June 15, Zarb-e-Azb, which is an Urdu phrase, meaning "Strike of the Prophet's Sword" and lost 26 soldiers.
