LAPD Detains Man Who Shot Off-Duty Officer

A man shot an off-duty Los Angeles police officer on Sunday. He fired from a car at a vehicle of the cop and then fled the scene at a suburban community in a northern LA county. However, he was arrested and is now detained.

The officer returned fire during the encounter in Santa Clarita, although neither he nor the suspected gunman were injured in the shootout, said LAPD spokeswoman Det. Meghan Aguilar, reports AP.

He was in the Rainbow Glen Drive and Swallow Court area at around 10:15 a.m. when the shooting occurred, according to the Sheriff's office, reports KTLA.

However, the officer's white pickup was damage. Investigators from the LA County Sheriff's officer are looking into what caused the shooting. The suspect is reportedly cooperating in the investigation.
