Apple CEO Tim Cook has spoken out against "religious freedom" laws being enacted in several states across the United States by the Republican Party, effectively crippling workers and businesses that support same sex marriage.

It all started with Indiana's "anti-gay" law passed earlier this month that allows businesses to not serve gay, bi-sexual or lesbian customers. Several protests in the thousands followed the enactment of this law, showing Indiana's anger at the changes.

Following the law's enactment, Arkansas and Texas are both looking into new laws that will cripple same sex marriage. It's the biggest anti-gay movement by states since the 1980s.

Several Republicans have denied it's a discriminatory law, claiming it's the right of businesses to serve whomever they want. This viewpoint isn't one shared by millions of people in the state, however, as seen by the large number of petitions and protests.

Some businesses are looking to remove stores and presence in the state until these laws are changed, which could hurt the economy of the state. Apple hasn't announced any plans to move out of Indiana.

In several countries ,there are laws to not discriminate against any customer regardless of gender, sexual orientation or political views. Due to the U.S. laws being on a state level, Indiana and Texas are able to enact these laws although the Supreme Court can overrule them.
