The 67-year old veteran actor's real life son-in-law and co-star Raymond Cho immediately drove him to the hospital and was admitted for observation. Chiang was released a day later and addressed the press immediately after the incident.
Chiang explained that his heart was checked by the attending doctor and assured the public that he is faring well.
"I will also visit my family doctor tomorrow. After all, I've undergone an angioplasty before," Chiang stated. "Even if there's nothing wrong with my health, I want to be more cautious."
On the other hand, Cho, who was worried about his father-in-law's condition, stated, "At the time, my father-in-law said his heart felt uncomfortable. I remembered that he had undergone an angioplasty a few years ago, so I immediately took him to the hospital for checkup."
Cho also added that after undergoing some blood tests, the doctors declared that Chiang is doing fine. The news brought relief to him and the cast alike.
Rosina Lin, who plays the role of Chiang's daughter in the new drama, also expressed her concern for her co-star, saying that she is relieved to hear that the actor is doing well, but also added that she has not yet spoken to Chiang since he was rushed to the hospital.
Furthermore, the drama's producer, Marco Law, shared that he will be altering the actor's filming schedule in order for him to have more time to rest. "We will temporarily halt filming of John's scenes. We will start filming those scenes after he has seen his family doctor."
