The "Fifty of Shades of Grey" actor revealed his acting preparation in an on-camera interview for the Los Angeles Times. He admitted that he wasn't method at all and said that the first series he did, he went on the Tube, which is what London's subway system is called, and stalked a woman off the train so he can actually feel how it's like "to pursue someone like that."
The 32-year old actor acknowledged that he was aware and said that he was kind of reluctant and half-hearted and kept wondering whether the woman would notice that he was following her. However, committed to playing the role in the best way he can, he followed the woman around numerous street corners when he finally asked himself, "What are you doing??"
Though not proud of what he did, he said that the experience was exciting and something that he was able to learn from. Because he has never done anything like that in real life, he explained that the process was interesting and intriguing.
Since playing the role of the serial killer though, he said that he keeps on trying to have a lot of fun on set as he does not think "it's healthy to stay in the headspace of someone who is as evil as he is."
