Business has not been smooth sailing for the TVB network. Not only is it experiencing declining ratings, but many actors and actresses are leaving it as well. The latest names to bid farewell to TVB are Joe Ma and Louise Lee. The two have chosen to discontinue their contracts following the reports that TVB will concentrate their efforts on honing younger artists.

46-year old Joe, who is under a per contract series with TVB, has admitted that his romantic comedy drama "Smooth Talker" will be his last with the network. Trying to widen his reach, he revealed that he plans to work in Hong Kong, as well as in Mainland China.
Veteran actress, Louise Lee, seemed to have shared the same sentiment as Joe, as she also decided to leave the TV station. Back in the days, Louise, along with fellow actresses Gigi Wong, Angie Chiu and Liza Wang, were dubbed as the "Four Fadans" by TVB, because of their popularity. Unfortunately, she was one of the actresses who experienced a downward spiral and felt that it's time to step down and give way to younger artists. Speaking up about TVB's announcement that it will focus on new artists, she said that she's not holding a grudge before continuing on to say, "It's very natural - who would write a script centered on a grandma? I also don't want TVB to always have to take care of this grandma."
Though before she leaves, she hopes to leave a memorable impact on the viewers with her performance on "Romantic Repertoire," where she plays a bossy and strict manager.
Many of TVB's actresses these days are known for having a pageant background. Though it's no secret that a lot of them are inexperienced and are new to the acting game, they also have already managed to secure main roles and carry them well.
Just this past month, Tracy Chu was handed the lead role for EU: Overtime Mission when Myolie Wu departed the network. Tracy stars in Smooth Talker along with Joe and plays the role of Kate Tsui's character's sister, who has Asperger's syndrome. TVB exec, Catherine Tsang also announced earlier the promotion of Moon Lau, Sisley Choi and Grace Choi by teaming them up with established actors.
