The royal cuteness has grown in stature and this photo just issued by the royal family on the eve of the royal birthday shows a very lively, confident and a very determined young boy walking all by himself.

The photo was taken a few weeks ago at London's Natural History Museum and issued to mark His Royal Highnesses first birthday.

There's no official word what the baby prince's proud parents, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, have in store for the lad on Tuesday but whatever it is will make news worldwide.

What is certain is that the adorable prince will spend his first birthday at his family's Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Prince George's official title is His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge. His full name is George Alexander Louis Windsor.

Prince George is third in line to succeed his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II after his grandfather, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and father.

Prince George's birth and the days leading to it and after it were attended by the lavish pomp one expects of an event of this importance.

St James's Palace announced Kate's pregnancy on December 3, 2012.

Welsh composer Paul Mealor composed a lullaby entitled "Sleep On" with lyrics by Irish composer Brendan Graham especially for Prince George. Commemorative coins were issued by the Royal Mint, Royal Canadian Mint, and Royal Australian Mint, the first time a royal birth had been marked this way.

An Easel outside Buckingham Palace announced the birth of Prince George: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24 p.m. today. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

The bells of Westminster Abbey and many other churches were rung at the news of the birth. Gun salutes announced the birth in Bermuda, London, New Zealand  and Canada

Perhaps a great birthday present for the prince would be a royal sibling. But is that in the works?
