Rapper Just Brittany Accuses Rihanna of Stealing Her Song "Betta Have My Money"

Rihanna has just been accused of copying a Texas-based rapper, better known as Just Brittany.

The highly successful pop star just released her newest single last week with the title "B*tch Better Have My Money."

While the 27-year old's single's title is well-known to be shared and used by a lot of various artists, some online commenters have claimed that there are parts in the song that are just a little too similar to Just Brittany's own track, "Betta Have My Money."

Just Brittany's track was released nine months ago on SoundClound, and while it didn't gain any media attention at the time, it has now dominated social media after Rihanna released her song last March 26.

The plagiarism allegations come after Rihanna spearheaded Jay Z's new venture, Tidal, a new music streaming service, which intends to favor the artist regarding earning royalties, by asking customers a fee so they can listen to exclusive tracks. In the meantime, after news of the intellectual property theft broke, some fans expressed their approval of a lawsuit.

However, there are some who believe that the accusations were a bit far-fetched, with one fan saying that although there are similarities, Rihanna's song was way "hotter" and another who defended Rihanna and wrote that she did not steal Just Brittany's song, but if she did, Rihanna's was way better.

Claims about the song theft come from what they say a strong likeness in the hooks, in which Rihanna repeats the line, "b*tch better have my money." However, what many should keep in mind is the lyrics is one of hip hop's most overused phrases, thanks to the 1988 parody film made by the Wayans brothers titled "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka."

Since then, the phrase has become hip hop's pop culture reference with AMG releasing a song in 1992 with the title "B*tch Betta Have My Money." Just recently, rappers Tyga and Drake have also used the phrase in their songs.
