The cancellation was unexpected but you can't blame the once famous boy band from doing this for safety reasons. Days before their concert in Ra'anana Amphitheater, the Backstreet Boys decided to not push through with their supposed to be first ever concert in Israel.
They posted this announcement on their site and said that they are very sorry about the sudden decision. They are truly dissappointed and said that they were excited to meet their fans in the area for the first time. However, they could not risk the band's safety due to the growing tension in the region.

The band was supposed to perform in the area for three days but due to hostilities, they had to cancel the show. Fans are also surely disappointed but the band promised that the concert will still be possible in Israel. The target date was said to be during Spring of 2015.
There have been a lot of other musical groups cancelling their appearances in Israel and the Backstreet Boys is not alone on this. Paul Anka, Neil Young and Crazy Horse are some of the few who cancelled their performances because of the increasing conflict in the Middle East.
The Backstreet Boy's show sold out immediately in Tel Aviv and was followed by two more shows in the area. This has been reported by a Hollywood Reporter and according to him, there was a really high demand for the band to perform in Israel.
The band can only do so much about this change and they made refunds available as well as promising to have a rescheduled date for all three performances.
Musical performances from Cee Lo Green, Lana Del Rey, and Lady Gaga are also lined up from August to September in Tel Aviv but no updates yet if these stars will continue their concerts in Israel and Jerusalem.
The 90's boy band has started their "In a World Like this Summer Tour" this 2014 and is expected to continue until 2015. The Backstreet Boys' latest performance was in Oostende, Belgium last July 20.
