Notwithstanding the Republican-initiated email controversy, all signs point to Hillary Clinton running for the Democratic nomination for the 2016 presidential election.

The latest indicator is that the former Secretary of State signed on Wednesday a lease for two office spaces in Brooklyn Heights in New York City to serve as her campaign headquarters. She is expected to roll out her second attempt at the presidency within two weeks, reports the New York Daily News.

The daily, citing sources, said the lease covered two floors, totaling 80,000 square feet at the One Pierrepont Plaza. It is near a dozen subway lines and across the East River from downtown Manhattan.

Owned by Forest City Ratner Companies, other tenants of the building are Morgan Stanley and the Brooklyn U.S. Attorney. The chairman of Forest City is Bruce Ratner, a known Democratic donor. He was the developer of the Barclay Center which tried unsuccessfully to be the host of the 2016 Democratic National Convention, reports the New York Times.

Federal Election Commission regulations give candidates 15 days to create a campaign committee after they have initiated campaign activity which includes rental of office space.

Clinton's team scouted and considered office spaces in Queens and Westchester County but eventually settled for Brooklyn. Her staff are currently spread in different New York locations, while the former first lady has a small midtown Manhattan office and also works from her Chappaqua, New York home.

Huma Abedin, the chief of staff of Clinton, reportedly checked the Brooklyn building a few weeks ago and had a walking tour of the neighborhood.

While Clinton's popularity has dipped over the years, she is still ahead of her potential GOP rivals, said a Washington Post/ABC News survey. The poll said that 49 percent of respondents see Clinton in a positive light, while 46 see her as unfavorable. Two years ago, 67 percent viewed her positively.

However, she has better numbers than ex-Florida Gov. Jeb Bush whose favorable-unfavorable ratings are 35-53 percent and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's 26-41 percent. The favorable rating of Ted Cruz is only 20 percent, Rand Paul 13 percent, Marco Rubio 14 percent and Scott Walker 7 percent.
