OnePlus Launches OxygenOS; Drops Cyanogen

OnePlus has launched its new skin for the One, named OxygenOS.
OnePlus has officially launched its own Android ROM, following issues with Cyanogen that built a custom version of its CyanogenMod ROM for the OnePlus One in 2014.
Rumors of OnePlus working on its own ROM started circling in January. Cyanogen decided to grab an exclusive partnership with Micromax in India despite already partnering with OnePlus elsewhere. It forced OnePlus to drop its smartphone in India while it worked on its own ROM.

Even though Cyanogen has made its brand very noticeable in Asia, OnePlus' own OxygenOS might keep Android fans happy. It offers performance upgrades while not customizing the design of the OS that much.
"By creating our own operating system, we can quickly respond to user feedback and make it easier for you to continue playing a fundamental role in the future of OnePlus," said OnePlus in a statement. "Our goal for OxygenOS is to provide faster, more meaningful updates and a better-integrated range of services for every OnePlus user."
OnePlus has been altering to Android Lollipop while it prepares the launch of OxygenOS. OnePlus One owners are able to switch between a variety of ROMs easily due to OnePlus' open system for installing new skins.
Keeping the stock Android Lollipop aesthetic for the most part is a good deal. Most people don't like ROMs that stray too far from the norm. Look at TouchWiz or Sense for proof of that hatred. Samsung has worked on its skin this year to make it fit more with the Android Lollipop UI style.
OnePlus is reportedly planning to launch its next phone sometime in the next few months. No word on any OnePlus tablets, although it did launch a limited edition drone on April Fools' Day, which turned out to not be a joke like many thought.
Although the successor to OnePlus One is already being hinted at, the Chinese company has only offered its OnePlus One to the public for one month following major delays in an official rollout.
The invite system it used for 2014 and the start of 2015 was hated by many, and even if OnePlus One was arguably one of the best phones last year, the reputation it garnered lost them a lot of potential sales.
