Tom Hanks Films "Hologram to the King" in Egypt

American actor Tom Hanks arrived in Egypt on Friday to shoot his 2015 comedic drama film, "A Hologram to the King."

Hanks conferred to a private local newspaper, Al-Masry Al-Youm, that it was his first time visiting the Red Sea though he has learned about the country's most famous sea from reading about it. The newspaper added that Hanks will have a yacht where he would sleep in for the taping.

"A Hologram for the King" is a forthcoming film based on a 2012 novel by an English novelist, Dave Eggers.

On June 12, 2013, Tom Tykwer, a German filmmaker, developed an adaptation based on the novel with Hanks as the leading star while Tykwer, both the writer and director. Lotus Entertainment received the international rights to the film adaptation on Sept. 5, 2013 from Playtone and X-Filme Creative Pool upon an announcement in Toronto International Film Festival.

Stars Sarita Shoudhary, Omar Elba, Tracy Feraway, David Menkin and Tom Skerritt were announced in March to cast the film that started its shooting on Morocco earlier this year

The movie tells a story of a desperate American businessman Allan Clay, who will be played by Hanks, and his efforts to travel to Saudi Arabia to close deals with a wealthy monarch for a new complex in the middle of the desert.

Hanks' stay in Egypt will cover 25 days to complete the scenes. The film will be premiered in November 2015.

Egypt's tourism ministry announced last week that the film will feature scenes in Red Sea Coast of the city of Hurghada. The city is famous for its known diving sites and beautiful coral reefs.  Hank's stay in the resort will attract tourists, the ministry added.

The number of tourists visiting Egypt has dwindled since 2011. Reports said that the country has faced a decline of 20.5 percent compared to last year's tourists.
