The sequel starred 30-year old Garret as Kevin's son, Sam and 31-year old Olivia as Quorra, a computer program turned human, who goes to the real world and joins Sam, as seen at the end of the movie.
Tron 2's director, Joseph Kosinski is also on board to direct the third film in the successful science fiction movie franchise.
In a previous interview with Collider, the director said that he would love to direct the third Tron movie only if they could do "something spectacular." But assured fans by saying that he thinks they have the idea that will make the movie really big and make the franchise better and more successful.
While details, as well as the plot of Tron 3 have yet to be announced, The Hollywood Reporter reported that the film is scheduled to start production this coming fall.
