U.S. NBC reported on 25th that among 150,000 full-time and part-time workers who participated in the Gallup survey, only 30% say they like their current works and the bosses, and get incentive from the current works. While most of the other respondents hate their jobs, and 18% called themselves as positive "idle family", which means that they often complain about their work, use the company's free web search jobs at lunch break, and even destroy their colleagues' work achievement. Another 52% of the participants who hate their job said that they worked as sleepwalker and can not get motivating and inspiring from their supervisors. The provision of lunch, table tennis, nap rooms, massage and other special treatment from the company is also of no avail.
These idle workers not only provide negative influence on the office morale, but also affect the economic development. Gallup estimated that losses reaches to 450 to 550 billion U.S. dollars per year due to the lack of productivity, absenteeism, theft of public property.
Jim Harter, Chief scientist on workplace management from Gallup, pointed out, "The general workplace has put a lot of focus on work processes while ignoring the people. When people's basic needs are not met, a good working mind will turn bad "
Another surprising finding is that workers who work remotely at home devote more on job than those who work at office. 44% of workers who have flexible working hours have higher sense of happiness.
Jim Clifton, CEO and Chairman of Gallup, said that mismanagement, neglect on competent personnel, and lack of vocational training are main reasons for an employee's undisciplined performance.
In contrast, women and management level show higher participation in the work; companies with 10 workers or even less have higher working morale and efficiency in team work cooperating than large companies; growing companies tend to have a more positive work environment that further enhances employees' engagement.
