The daughter of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, Malia, can now drive on her own thanks to the Secret Service.

Instead of attending a driving school in Washington D.C., Malia was taught to drive by several people from the Secret Service.

Her mother shared that information when she taped an interview with Rachael Ray for her show "The Rachael Ray Show," which aired last Thursday.

Michelle shared that the Secret Service taught her because they would not let her inside the vehicle with her.

Just this past Monday, the first lady guested on Michael Strahan and Kelly Ripa's "Live! With Kelly and Michael" and happily shared that Malia just recently asked her something regarding parking in public lots. However, she revealed that she barely knows anything about those too, "so, I have to check with other sources," the first lady said.

To the surprise of many though, Malia, as revealed by her mother, is allowed to go driving on her own.

Michelle said that her daughter has security around her all the time, but for her to learn how to drive, she needed to drive alone. So, the moment she got her driving license, she got in her car and drove.

President Obama and his wife allow Malia to go out and drive in an attempt to let their daughter live a normal life. While it's good to bring some sense of normalcy in her much speculated life, many could not help but think that it must be frightening for them to let her go out on her own.

The first lady said that allowing her daughter to drive enables her to experience a normal life, just like her friends. And she expressed the importance of letting her kids live like normal teenagers.

Despite allowing Malia to roam the city on her own, for sure she's never far from the watchful eyes of the Secret Service.
