Dali: a mysterious ancient city

Dali City is a county-level city in the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, in northwestern Yunnan province, China. Dali ancient city has an international flair. It attracts travelers from all over China and other parts of Asia, but also many people from Europe and USA.

Dali ancient city is situated near the foothills of the Himalayas, on the southern end of the legendary Silk Road, in Yunnan province, south of Tibet. Dali faces the Erhai Lake on the east with Cang Mountain on its west. The main street in the ancient city is a long street, which runs through north to south. There are many street vendors along the street. Besides, there are many stores that sell marble handicrafts, straw works or hand dyeing fabrics on the street side.
River flows through the ancient city quietly. Wondering in the mysterious old city, you can see traditional houses of Bai ethnic minority everywhere. A special custom has been carried down for many years. That is no matter rich or poor, all the residents here will plant camellias and azaleas in their courtyard.
Dali is both ancient and fashionable. Jazz, Rock and Flamenco pours out of speakers, mingling with the local music, which is played on a pipe made out of a fluted two lobed-dried gourd.
You can eat all kinds of food there, Tibetan, local, Chinese, Korean and even Pizza. Cafes and restaurants offer quiet and relaxed environments for busy travellers to have a rest in the ancient city. You can listen to music, drink a tin of cold beer and spend a leisurely afternoon here. Moreover, it is a very tourist-friendly place with many guides and resort hosts.
