SM Entertainment Announces Jessica Jung and Lu Han’s Removal from ‘Superstar SMTOWN’

South Korean talent outfit SM Entertainment made an announcement that ex-Girls' Generation member Jessica Jung and former EXO member Lu Han will be axed from 'Superstar SMTOWN' which is a game created by the company.

In August 2014, SM Entertainment officially launched a game called 'Superstar SMTOWN', which is a rhythm game that features songs by the label's artists. The objective of the game is to increase scores and attain higher levels by collecting cards for each of the solo artists or group members.

Since the game was released in August of last year, Jung was still included as a member of Girls' Generation while Lu was also listed as a member of EXO's Chinese subunit, EXO-M. Jung and Lu remained a part of the game despite leaving SM Entertainment.

However, SM Entertainment already released an announcement that Jung and Lu will be removed from the list of characters on April 8, Wednesday. The company stated that, players will no longer be able to access Lu and Jung's playing cards.

Representatives of the company also advised players of the game to exchange their Lu Han and Jessica playing cards for other artists' cards. After the players exchange their cards, they will not be able to get back the aforementioned playing cards in return.

The announcement brought about mixed reactions from fans and players alike. Many have expressed their sadness over the fact that the entertainment agency will be removing both artists from the character list of 'Superstar SMTOWN'.

In September 2014, SM Entertainment shocked fans after announcing that Jung will be removed from Girls' Generation, citing her lack of participation in group activities as a reason.

On the other hand, Lu returned to his homeland, China, initially announcing that he is too ill to attend group activities. However, he left EXO and filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment in October 2014.
