Bridget Klecker, 42, was hit in the crosswalk at California and Kearney streets in the financial district of San Francisco. She later died at San Francisco General Hospital reported the city's medical examiner.
During the chase, a second pedestrian was hit, but authorities say that he is expected to survive.
The car chase between the police and the robbers began around 10:00 p.m. on Friday night. That night, three men were involved in an armed robbery.
It was only of many that took place in the city throughout the past few days. Two others had occurred earlier that evening, said the spokeswoman of the San Francisco police, Grace Gatpandan.
Gatpandan said that after the men held up a victim at Clay and Larkin streets, an officer spotted their getaway vehicle which was a black 2013 Toyota Corolla. It was travelling north on Leavenworth Street near Pine Street, and the officers gave chase.
The police tried to pull them over, but the suspects ran away.
A few blocks later, the robbers hit Klecker and fatally injured her. Even after hitting her though, the suspects did not stop.
A few moments later, the police called in another report saying that another pedestrian had been hit.
The black Toyota evaded the police South of the Market area but it was later found abandoned and unoccupied on Treasure Island. When police ran a check, the car was reported as stolen.
The suspects are currently still at large.
