On May 5, Microsoft is set to launch the new Surface 3 tablet in the United States and several Asia-Pacific countries.
Aside from the U.S., the Surface 3 is set to hit the store shelves of Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. Most of the countries mentioned have an extensive 4G network, which means they may get the LTE version. Microsoft has yet to confirm it, however.

The retail price in the U.S. for the basic Surface 3 is around US$499. Its release in China or Japan is yet to be announced by Microsoft.
The upcoming Surface 3 comes in two versions. The basic unit has 2 GB of RAM and internal storage of 64 GB. The more expensive one has 4 GB of RAM and an internal storage space of 128 GB. Both have the 10.8 inch size and a quad core Intel Atom processor.
Instead of the old Windows RT, the Surface 3 will be using the Windows 8.1 full version OS. This will enable the tablet to run the normal Windows and other desktop applications.
Slightly larger than its predecessor, it also features a three stage kickstand. The Surface Type Covers have been adjusted to fit in the Surface 3. Covers for the Surface 2 also work for the Surface 3 although there is a noticeable size difference.
Just like the Surface Pro 3, you can also use a stylus for this tablet although Microsoft seems to have forgotten to include the stylus pen in the Surface 3 package.
The Surface 3 has a USB port, microSD card reader as well as mini Display port. It does not have the Type-C USB port.
