U.S. authorities have arrested a Tennessee man who allegedly threatened to kill President Barack Obama and other officials through voicemails this month.
The 45-year old Jimmie Johnson from Ardmore in southern Tennessee will appear in court Thursday next week on charges of harassment, Reuters reported.

According to the prosecutors' affidavit filed in court, Johnson called Tennessee Department of Homeland Security in Nashville on July 11 and July 12, threatening to kill Obama, former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and Wisconsin Representative Paul Ryan.
Johnson, who left his name in the voice mail messages, has also reportedly warned the authorities that he will "light Nashville up" and will kill people with an "AK," or AK-47 rifle, the affidavit added.
"I'll come on that [expletive] airport and blow them all up," Johnson said, according to the affidavit which was filed in court.
Tennessee Homeland Security Director David Purkey and Special Agent Tommy Farmer were also threatened by Johnson. The suspect admitted making calls, but did not confirm the threats.
Aside from harassment, Johnson is facing a charge of driving under the influence in 2012, and is being held on a $25,000 bond for both charges, Reuters reported.
U.S. officials were taking threats seriously following deadly mass shootings in the U.S., underlining the need for more security in the villages.
In the first week of July alone this year, at least nine people were killed in Chicago as the city celebrates the Independence Day. Several shooting were recorded in three consecutive days.
In the following days, another shooting incident transpired in Texas after a gunman opened fire and killed four children and two adults in Houston, while critically wounding another 15-year old girl.
Several police have been dispatched in dangerous neighborhoods to try to combat violence, especially in areas with large presence of gangs.
