After almost a decade of waiting, Final Fantasy XV has been unveiled, sort of, as a demo. The developer named it "Episode Duscae".

Unfortunately, the demo isn't free and the only way you can play it is by buying Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, which retails for US$60. A number of fans may be hesitant to shell out this figure, especially if they have no idea what kind of game Type-0 HD and Episode Duscae offers.

Despite being a playable demo, Duscae offers a lot of content. On the other hand, players will enjoy Final Fantasy Type-0 HD despite the muddled plot. Game combat is superb and offers plenty of options to customize your characters and mission layout.

Type-0 is also the predecessor story for Final Fantasy XV. Hajime Tabata is the director for both the Final Fantasy game.

Based on the FF XV demo, its combat system offers a more polished control. In fairness, Type-0 offers quick-paced action and real time combination of magic spells and physical attacks against your opponents.

It also seems both FF games will share the same dark story themes. The developer is silent on whether the things you collected in Duscae will be carried over to the full version of the FF XV game. But for diehard fans of the game, playing and mastering it is reward enough.

In the demo, players start in the Duscae region and will be given a series of missions. The Duscae demo can take you several hours to finish.

This preview of FF XV has already given players a feel of the gameplay. The demo will also give players the chance to evaluate the game on its merits before deciding to buy the full version. Let's just hope it won't take another nine years before they release it.
