Rodriguez, 23, just passed a medical examination at the Saritas Clinic and has been introduced to thousands of football fans at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid, Spain Tuesday evening.
"Everything went well," said James as he left the clinic.
Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, welcomed James to the club and has compared him to legend Alfredo Di Stefano who recently died July 7 at the age of 88.
Marca and As, two local sports newspapers in Madrid said that James has been acquired from Monaco and Madrid have agreed to pay them US$ 108 million.
The new galactico James has played for Monaco last season that was acquired through a transfer from Porto.
Real Madrid placed 3rd in the recent La Liga in the Primera Division of the Spanish Football League and would need the skills of the young Rodriguez in its roster. They have been known to make extravagant offers to world class football players.
Rodriguez will play wing or attacking midfield along with attackers Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, Wales' Gareth Bale, Frenchman Karim Benzema and recently acquired Toni Kroos of the World Cup champions' Germany.
James scored a total of six goals in Brazil to win the covenant Golden Boot award. Germany's Thomas Muller came in second with five goals while Brazilian star Neymar came in third with four.
Rodriguez's goal against Uruguay was voted the best goal in the World Cup. This was when he chested the ball down and lunged it in the net.
The Columbian forward will join the squad on August 1 and is expected to wear the jersey No. 10 since the number was vacated by German Mesut Ozil who left for the Arsenal Football Club.
