Singer and Actress Jennifer Lopez will pay homage to late singer Selena Quintanilla through a musical performance at the upcoming Billboard Latin Music Awards. The event will be aired live on Telemundo on April 30, according to an interview with Billboard.

Eighteen years ago, Lopez portrayed the late singer's role in an autobiographical movie that catapulted her to fame.

The movie became a worldwide hit and garnered positive movie reviews.

"There is never going to be another Selena," said Lopez, emphasizing the late singer's passion for music without compromising family life.

Lopez also described the late singer as someone with great grace to handle all aspects in her life such as her investments and her passion for music.

Selena made waves throughout the world because of her good qualities.

This year marked the late singer's 20^th death anniversary.

The late singer could've been 44 years old today but her legacy will always live on as her upcoming birthday will be celebrated with a tribute.

Selena was affectionately dubbed by fans as 'The Queen Of Tejano' and she was considered as one of the best Latin artists of her time.

The late singer was married to her band guitarist Chris Perez, after eloping together.

In 1995, Selena was shot by Yolanda Saldivar, her fan club president, who had embezzled US$60,000 worth of forged checks from the singer's fan clubs and other establishments.

The singer was shot in the right shoulder and after the paramedics tried to revive her, she already lost a massive amount of blood. She was pronounced dead from cardiac arrest and blood loss.

Fans from all around the world grieved for the singer's untimely death and Saldivar was eventually sentenced to life imprisonment.

After Selena's death, 'Tejano' music began to decline in popularity.

The host for the upcoming Billboard Latin Music Awards will be actress Gaby Espino. She will be accompanied by fellow host, singer Pedro Fernandez.

The event will also feature performances by several artists such as renowned DJ Afrojack, Carlos Santana, Daddy Yankee, Lucero and Wisin.
