Rumors place the release date of the new iPhone this September. The name of this upcoming smartphone may not be iPhone 7, but instead, might be called the iPhone 6S.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst, believes Apple will likely stick to the name iPhone 7, however. He believes the rumored new iPhone contains major updates to its features and specs.

He also contends naming it as the iPhone 6s will lead customers to believe it's a simple in-between smartphone to the next iPhone. Still, other Apple fans are suggesting naming the next mobile device the iPhone Air.

It's been noted Apple launches its new iPhone products every September. But that may change since there's been some gossip Apple will start launching two new iPhone models a year to keep up with its rivals. Basically, Apple will release new iPhones in spring and autumn.

With regards to screen size, the iPhone 7 will possibly be the same as the iPhone 6, which has a screen size of 4.7 inches. This doesn't mean, however, that Apple won't consider other sizes.  The bigger iPhone 6 Plus sold a respectable number of units.

Economic Daily News reported Apple supplier TPK is embarking on a "naked eye 3D screen", which basically means you don't need those special glasses to watch the 3D display.

Some reports claim the upcoming iPhone 7 will have two lens camera systems that will provide DSLR quality pictures. Other camera features include optical zoom options and clear pictures taken in poor lighting conditions.

Interestingly, Samsung is the likely supplier for the new A9 processor. This most powerful, power efficient and smallest chip will be installed in the upcoming iPhone 7. RAM is also set to increase to 2 GB from the previous 1 GB.
