Facebook's Internet.org Service Attacked In India

Facebook has been quickly expanding its free internet service under the Internet.org not-for-profit organization but it's met resistance in India over apparent anti-net neutrality business practices.
Several Indian companies announced they would revoke support for Internet.org, claiming upholding net neutrality laws is more important than free access to services and a Facebook-controlled web.

Internet.org offers limited free internet access and access to several websites including Facebook and Wikipedia for free. In order to gain full access, customers need to pay, which is where the anti-net neutrality allegations come in.
It's not the first time Facebook has been accused of favoritism and profiting from free internet access. In other countries, users have been vocal about their discontent for Facebook's limited free access but in India the issue seems to be a heavy blow for adoption.
Facebook has big plans for internet adoption is remote areas, including solar powered drones capable of transmitting internet from the same altitude as low orbit satellites. This limited access may be an issue, especially as more customers start to be burdened by the lack of choice when it comes to free websites.
Google is also planning rolling out internet to remote areas, through SpaceX's low cost satellites and Project Loon. Qualcomm, Microsoft and IBM also have plans for internet service through satellite investments although none of them have dedicated as much time as Facebook and Google to the cause.
The issue with corporate companies investing heavily into infrastructure is the end goal is to have more customers on their website. It forces a certain bias against competitors and anyone not paying, which could lead to major anti-net neutrality systems and monopolies on internet access.
This is not what we need in countries without a strong internet presence. If the internet isn't open when the user first accesses it, they might develop a skewed view of the potential of the internet and not ever find some of the most amazing websites and apps available on the regular internet.
